WOMEN AND YOUTH EMPOWERMENT

Availability of gainful Employment for youths.

      • ACDE-SL held several engagements with women and youths mainly girls and agreed on skills they would want to engage in to improve their livelihood. In those engagements some women opted for support in agriculture (back yard gardening), some opted for petty trading in cookery, palm oil, restaurant, used clothing etc. On the other hand some young girls opted for Event Management, some for Water Koish Enterprise, some for Make-up/Peddy Cure , and some for Hair Dressing while some opted for vocational skills in tailoring, plumbing, gara-tie dying, auto mechanic and driving.

      • ACDE-SL facilitated entrepreneurship training programs for some women and young girls in the eastern part of Freetown.

    • Identified vocational training institutions for young girls who want to acquire vocational skills in various skills of their choice.

    Empowering women and youth can lead to increased leadership roles, economic growth, and gender equality.

     

    Enviromental Research

      • The elimination of gender inequalities and the empowerment of women and girls in all aspects of life will make a crucial contribution to the realization of the 2030 Agenda (SDG 5), serving as a catalyst to accelerate sustainable development overall.

Challenges

  • Challenges of women and youth empowerment in Nigeria include instability in government policies, failed health facilities, unplanned strikes, lack of necessary infrastructure, and other factors.
